ATTRIBUTED TO MICHEL CRESSON
A PAIR OF LOUIS XV GILTWOOD FAUTEUILS A LA REINE

MID-18TH CENTURY

Each with a molded cartouche-shaped backrest centered by C-scrolls enclosing a cabochon, the padded armrests back and seat à chassis, on voluted supports, the serpentine-fronted seat carved to match the backrest, on cabriole legs ending in rocaille and cabochon scrolled toes.

The form of this pair of fauteuils with the undulating crestrail, scroll to the arm support and generous proportion, is similar to chairs produced by the celebrated 18th Century, menuisier Michel Cresson
